The organisation is part of the Centre for Effective Altruism, affiliated with the University of Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. The organization's name refers to the typical amount of time someone spends working over a lifetime.

The organizations research focuses on four key domains: rights and liberties, labor and automation, bias and inclusion, and safety and critical infrastructure.

The Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies is a nonprofit think tank which promotes ideas about how technological progress can increase freedom, happiness, and human flourishing in democratic societies. Focusing on emerging technologies that have the potential to positively transform social conditions and the quality of human lives - especially "human enhancement technologies" - the IEET seeks to cultivate academic, professional, and popular understanding of their implications, both positive and negative, and to encourage responsible public policies for their safe and equitable use.

The Global Challenges Foundation is a Swedish non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness of global catastrophic risk and the global governance necessary to handle these risks.

The Centre for Effective Altruism helps to grow and support the effective altruism movement. Effective altruism is about using evidence and reason to figure out how to benefit others as much as possible, and taking action on that basis.

 

Berkeley Center for Technology, Society & Policy

The Center for Technology, Society & Policy is a multidisciplinary research and design/build center focusing on the emergent social and policy issues arising from the development and adoption of technology. We seek to build a community of researchers and technologists on campus and beyond who engage with these issues in collaboration with community organizations and advocates, policy-makers, and technology companies.

 

The Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics 

The goal of the Centre is to encourage and support debate and deeper rational reflection on practical ethics. The vision is Socratic, not missionary. The Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics seeks to be inclusive, encouraging debate between different approaches to ethics, aiming to resolve disagreements and identifying key areas of consensus.

 

The Millenium Project

The Millennium Project connects futurists around the world to improve global foresight. It was founded in 1996 after a three-year feasibility study with the United Nations University, Smithsonian Institution, Futures Group International, and the American Council for the UNU. It is now an independent non-profit global participatory futures research think tank of futurists, scholars, business planners, and policy makers who work for international organizations, governments, corporations, NGOs, and universities. 

 

Machine Intelligence Research Institute 

The Machine Intelligence Research Institute is a research nonprofit studying the mathematical underpinnings of intelligent behavior. Their mission is to develop formal tools for the clean design and analysis of general-purpose AI systems, with the intent of making such systems safer and more reliable when they are developed.
